FAQ

How do I schedule the first appointment?

You can call our intake line at (732) 639-0232 to schedule your first session.  During the call we will gather personal information – Name, Address, Date of Birth, and Insurance Information to verify out of network benefits.  We will ask you why you are coming to therapy and then schedule you with the therapist who’s specialty area best meets your clinical needs. We are usually able to schedule your first session within a week of your call.

What can I expect from the first session?

Your first in-person meeting is what’s known as an Intake Evaluation. It’s different from a traditional therapy session because this will be a time for the therapist to gather your history, for you to talk about why you have decided to pursue therapy, and what your goals are.  It’s also an opportunity for you to get to know the therapist, to ask any questions you may have, and to ensure it is a good fit.

At the end of the session, you will decide together with the therapist if it feels right to move forward in scheduling another session.  If it is, then you will schedule a follow up session.

How will I know if it my therapist is a good fit for me?

Many clients report that they know it is a good fit if they can say to themselves, “My therapist really gets me”, “I feel very comfortable talking about anything to my therapist”, or “I really feel that my therapist has a good handle on what I’m dealing with and how to help me experience an improvement in my symptoms”.

If at any point in time you feel it is not a good fit, we do recommend that you try to process this as best as you can with your therapist.  If the fit is not something that can improve with any change made by the therapist or the client, then clients are encouraged to contact our intake line (732) 639-0232 again to discuss the concerns and the intake worker can assist with referring you to another therapist either within or outside of the practice.

What is your cost per session?

Please call (732) 639-0232 to learn more about our fees as this varies according to the time allotted for each session.  Please note that we only offer a rate reduction to private pay clients experiencing a documented financial hardship, or those who qualify for Medicaid.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an in network (INN) provider with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Medicare and United Healthcare. We are considered an out of network (OON) provider with all other insurance carriers at this time. We are happy to submit all claims to your insurance company on your behalf.  Clients would then be responsible for coinsurance at the time of service after the deductible is met, and any balance outside of what insurance covers.  It is recommended that you contact your insurance directly to obtain information on your coverage.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours notice of cancellation or you will be charged the $60 cancellation/no show fee.  An occasional exception may be made in the case of an emergency. Please contact your therapist directly if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

How long is a therapy session?

Therapy sessions are typically 45-60 minutes in length. Group sessions are typically 60-90 minutes in length.
