April completed her undergraduate degree at the Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and two minors, one in American Sign Language and the other in Health and Society. She went on to complete her Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling on a Clinical Mental Health Counseling track through Rutgers University.
April has 1 year of professional experience within the counseling profession. She has worked in an outpatient counseling setting and has experience working with adolescent to older adult populations in both group and individual counseling environments.
April takes a trauma-informed, person-centered approach and incorporates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), MotivationalInterviewing, and mindfulness to support each client's individual needs and goals.
April utilizes a person-centered approach in the counseling space, preferring to let the individual clients needs' determine which interventions are used. She enjoys meeting clients where they are at, using strengths based and trauma informed approaches, and engaging with clients through empathic listening. She has a calm personality and her counseling style tends to reflect this; she believes therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, empathy, and understanding.
April loves to take the time to slow life down for her self-care. She can often be found reading, journaling, or practicing yoga to engage in mindfulness practices. In addition, she believes in the importance of having strong social support and she often spends time with her family and friends.

Working with Robyn during my first KAP journey was something I’ll never forget. From the moment we began, I felt genuinely held—seen, accepted, and safe to just be myself. She didn’t try to fix or analyze; instead, she created a space where I could soften, feel, and explore without fear. Her grounded presence made it possible for me to let go of old defenses and meet myself with more honesty and compassion.
There was no pressure to be anything other than what I was in each moment. She created a holding environment that was steady, compassionate, and deeply attuned.
I’m grateful beyond words for the care, intuition, and integrity she brought to the process. Her support helped me remember that I can trust myself—and that I don’t have to do it all alone.
Forever grateful,
E H
