Briget Nunn completed her undergraduate education at Georgian Court University and obtained a Master’s degree form Georgian Court University in Clinical Mental Health. She completed her clinical internship at St. Francis Counseling Center on LBI and trained under supervision in trauma informed treatment ,specializing in body work and working with a diverse population including children, adolescents, families and couples.

Briget has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families using various theoretical models and techniques including a family systems approach. Briget draws from diverse theoretical orientations in her clinical work including strength based and multicultural and is experienced working with a broad range of presenting problems, including counseling for individuals and their families, couples counseling ,counseling for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families, counseling for adults and children affected by trauma, single- parent and divorced families, as well as children, teens, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, panic disorder, grief, low self esteem, poor body image and self-harm.

She is a member of the NJCA and is currently on the Executive Board. She is currently pursuing additional trauma certification. She is a National Certified Counselor.

Specialty Areas: 

Trauma Therapy – Briget completed her internship at St Francis Counseling Center where she worked under supervision to facilitate trauma focused treatment for adults, children and adolescents using a mind body connection.  Briget continues to work with varied populations post graduation integrating a trauma focused approach and is currently pursuing additional trauma certifications.

Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavior Therapy – Briget uses various mindfulness and body-awareness techniques to increase life satisfaction measures and decrease any symptoms of anxiety and depression. She integrates principles of cognitive behavior therapy addressing the core beliefs of an individual with various mindfulness techniques  including progressive muscle relaxation, body scan, guided imagery and pranayama breathing techniques to bridge mind and body awareness.

Training and Certifications – QPR Suicide Certification. Working on Trauma certification course currently and will be starting EMDR sometime in the next few months.
