SCHOOL BACKGROUND

Ryan Fields has completed his undergraduate education at King’s College with a major in Psychology and a minor in Gerontology. Ryan attained a Master of Arts degree from Marywood University with a major in Psychology. He completed his post-graduate training at the East Orange General Hospital and trained under live-supervision in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy with a diverse client population.

EXPERIENCE

Ryan is an Approved Clinical Supervisor by the Center for Credentialing and Education Incorporated and a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. Ryan is a National Certified Counselor, who has over 20 years of experience in overseeing the following levels of behavioral health services: Partial Hospital/Partial Care Programs, Acute Partial Hospital Programs, Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, Addiction Services, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services. In addition, Ryan has over 15 years of leadership experience in training clinicians and counselors to provide the best service possible for every individual. Ryan possesses counseling experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, seniors, couples, and families. Ryan draws from diverse theoretical orientations in his clinical work and is experienced working with a broad range of presenting problems. Some of this experience includes counseling individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, stress-related challenges, anger-management issues, personality difficulties, coping with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, school-related issues, and marital/relationship difficulties. Ryan’s mission is to serve others and he believes in healing through counseling of the mind, body, and spirit. He has helped reunite families and provides hope to those who lost a means of hope. He will provide services with the highest level of excellence, compassion, and professionalism because he cares and believes in each person.

Ryan is an Approved Clinical Supervisor with the Centers for Credentialing and Education. Ryan was also a certified instructor in Non-violent Crisis Intervention with the Crisis Prevention Institute where he collaborated with 2 instructors in training over 1,000 employees. Ryan has completed numerous trainings that include but are not limited to the following: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Interventions, Anger Management Techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Interventions, Treating Addictions with Rational Emotive Therapy, and the Use of Humor in Therapy.

Client-Centered Therapy

Ryan completed his Post Graduate training at East Orange General Hospital under supervision in client-centered therapy interventions with a focus on building the therapeutic relationship to help the individual help themselves so they can achieve their optimal potential.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Ryan uses various mindfulness and body-awareness techniques to increase life satisfaction measures and decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression. He integrates principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy with various mindfulness and relaxation techniques. In particular, Ryan implements systematic desensitization, which is a treatment for phobias in which the patient is exposed to progressively more anxiety-provoking stimuli and taught relaxation techniques. He strives to promote total wellness and healing by treating the individual’s mind, body, and spirit.

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

Ryan provides EMDR Therapy to help empower and heal individuals who have experienced trauma and trauma-related experiences by guiding them to address issues with their past and present so they are able to live successful lives and have a promising future. Individuals receiving EMDR Therapy receive holistic healing to experience clarity in their mind, reprocess memories, overcome somatic complaints, resolve problems with their bodies from trauma-related experiences, and cleanse their spirit from the distress of the trauma.
